School/Library Visits and Craft Conferences:

Erica LOVES talking with readers and students! Due to scheduling constraints, Erica does a limited number of in-person visits per year. Virtual visits are always a possibility. Requests for school and library visits, or other communications unrelated to rights, may be sent to Erica at erica@ericaivyrodgers.com.

Topics for the Classroom

I have taught both high school and university English, and I LOVE to cater to what you need from me in the classroom. I can usually tweak existing presentations to hit specific state standards. Author visits can be awesome, but I know it’s tough to give up instructional time! Because I write for teens, my visits work best for middle and high school classrooms. Current offerings include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Heroes and Villains—creating characters we love to hate and hate to love.

  • Just WRITE—a workshop on the dedication and tools it takes to plan and execute a large creative project of ANY kind.

  • The Plot Thickens—creating a story from scratch: a workshop on my process for taking a brand new idea to a fully-fledged fantasy novel.

  • Building YOUR Toolbox—a workshop on different creative tools and methods and the importance of finding what works best for YOU.

  • General Ask-Me-Anything sessions—a quick introduction to me and my work and plenty of time for students to ask me anything they want about writing, publishing, or what it’s like to fly over the handlebars of a mountain bike at forty-three years old.

  • The Art of Critique—a workshop on the importance of feedback from our peers. How to (and how not to) give and take creative feedback, with hands-on critiquing in class.

As I said, can teach on pretty much any part of my process. Have an idea? Shoot me an email!
